4 Year College Information

Those Pennfield Panthers with the goal of going to and graduating from a 4 year college should start planning in 9th grade.  In the Counseling Office we are meeting with students each year to discuss their future plans and how their choice of classes will help them achieve their goals.

Most Colleges want to see students take, at minimum, the following course work.

    English: 4 years

    Math: 4 years

    Social Studies: 3 years

Science: 3-4 years (Michigan HS require 3 but 4 is often preferred by colleges)

    Foreign Language: 2 - 3 credits

The College Preparatory Directory website is a great place to begin your path toward a 4 year University.

The more competitive the college the more they value more advanced/AP Classes in all subject areas while maintaining a High GPA.

Looking at Colleges and visiting them should be done during their Junior year through the summer. Use the following Google Sheet to systematically compare the colleges you are considering.
