We Believe - Chapter 23: Jesus Redeemer and Savior

Facts:
Despite the political tension, Jesus and the disciples went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover.
The Passover meal reminds Jewish people of their covenant with God.
The Last Supper is the Passover meal that Jesus shared with his disciples on the night before he died.
At the Last Supper Jesus gave the Passover meal a new meaning.
For Christians the Eucharist is the new passover of God’s people.
Jesus’ love and his sacrifice would forever be remembered in the celebration of Eucharist.
In his final hours, Jesus prayed to his Father in the olive grove called Gethsemane.
Judas promised to hand over Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.
Judas told the guard that the one he kissed was the one they were looking for.
Some authorities in Jerusalem worried that Jesus might lead a revolt against the Roman government.
The Roman governor, Pontious Pilate, ordered that Jesus be crucified.
Christians call the day that marks Jesus’ Death Good Friday because it was the day Jesus died to save us.
When Jesus took his last breath, the veil of sanctuary in the Temple was torn in two.
Jesus died to save us. We call him our Redeemer because by Death and Resurrection Jesus gained our salvation and brought us the hope of new life.***
As it had been foretold in Scriptures, Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day after his death.
