Facts:
We learn from the Old Testament that Original Sin separated human beings from God.
God would never stop loving people and forgiving them.
In order to fully restore their friendship with God, humanity needed God to fulfill his promise of a Savior.
The Prophet Isaiah:
told of someone who would come to free humanity from sin and restore their friendship with God.
spoke on God's behalf.
reminded the people of how God wanted them to live.
The suffering servant referred to by Isaiah is God's own Son.
The New Testament contains four separate books about Jesus. We call these the Gospels.
The first human family struggled because of Original Sin.
Murder, one of the worst effects of Original Sin, came into existence when Cain killed his brother Abel.
Noah built an altar and offered God a sacrifice on it.
Through Noah God made an everlasting covenant with the whole of humanity.
The story of the flood revealed an important religious truth: God's forgiveness and love, and humanity's goodness can overcome all evil.
In the Church, the flood is a symbol of the waters of the Sacrament of Baptism.
In the story of the Tower of Babel, the tower is a symbol of human resistance to God's will.
God saw what human beings were doing and decided to stop them. He did this by confusing their language.
