1.3 Psychology as a Profession
Identifying Functions of Psychologists
For each of the types of psychologists listed below, create a list of (1) behavioral disorders, (2) areas of research, and/or (3) job functions associated with each professional. Do not use the words or cognates of the title profession in the list of clues. ** These cards should be educationally challenging – not too easy, not too hard; Accurate, but not a give away.
Use index cards to create matching cards. On one card record the list of disorders, areas of research, and/or job functions from one psychological profession. On another card list the psychological profession. Repeat until all of the professions have a matching set of cards.
When each group is ready, the groups exchange cards. Guess which type of psychologist might best handle each item.
The group that prepared the cards will check the answers when finished.
