Junior Classroom Lesson Post High School Plans 22-23

Grade 11 Guidance Lesson

In 11th grade, the focus shifts to decision making. We discuss the potential pathways students can take after graduation including work, military, career tech and college. We talk about how to explore each option and the action steps needed to be taken during junior and senior year in order to prepare for each pathway. In Naviance, students review how to update their resume and research a college or technical school. Naviance has thousands of profiles on college and technical schools. We also learn about additional college research tools like the College Super Match which takes into account a student's wish list for an ideal college and provides them with a tailored list of colleges based on what they want in a college.

Grade 11 PLC: Communicating YOUR Strengths

Grade 11 Guidance Lesson

The is the second lesson that 11th grade students participate in during the school  year. We are continuing to prepare students for their pathway after high school. Regardless if students plan to join the workforce, enlist in the military, or continue their education through technical school or college; the ability to communicate their strengths is important. In this lesson counselors will lead students in exercises designed to get them to think about their strengths, values and experiences. We will discuss how they can apply this information in interviews and different kinds of applications for jobs, colleges and scholarships.
