Curious about a career pathway? Job shadowing is a perfect way to explore different careers, gain real-world experience and valuable insights about your career of interest. Students that shadow during a school day can be excused for a scheduled job shadowing experience by completing the shadowing permission form and turning it in to the student office prior to their scheduled shadowing day.
Students are welcome to schedule a shadowing experience with someone they know. Need help locating a shadowing experience? We can help you out! Fill out the job shadowing interest form and a counselor will follow-up with you about your shadowing plans.
Your future is bright and the possibilities are endless, but how do you decide the right pathway for you? The Guidance Department is here to help! Career development is a process that everyone goes through. It consists of the following steps: Gaining Self Knowledge, exploring careers and making decisions/taking action. The guidance office offers students opportunities to take part in the career development process through grade specific guidance lessons, career assessments, job shadowing, networking with employers and more.
To assist us, we use the Naviance College and Career Planning System. Students in grades 6 - 12 have access to a personalized account. We encourage families and students to login together to explore the features of this system. To access a student account, follow these steps:
Go to either the middle school or high school homepage and locate the "Naviance Student/Parent Login".
Click on the student icon.
Click on the blue single sign-on button. If the student is already logged into their school google account, this button will automatically log them into Naviance.
Features of Naviance include: Career assessments, informative job and college profiles, college research tools, videos from leaders in career industries, access to over 3 million scholarships and college application tools for sending transcripts and letters of recommendation.
