What awards are given at the Regional Technology Competition?
Only first and second place awards are presented at the awards ceremony. First place winners will receive a trophy. Second place winners will receive a second place ribbon.
With what other projects will my project be compared?
All projects within a category in the same grade grouping will be judged by the same set of judges. For example, the same judges will see ALL 07-08 Digital Photography projects. Therefore, the same judges compare the attributes of every project in a given category and grade level.
How are the winning projects determined?
Judges will interview each participant for no more than 20 minutes and see the project. Judges use a rubric guide to evaluate and score each project. After completing the judging of all projects in a grade/category, the judges will rank the projects and decide on the winner and the second place project . All decisions of the judges are final.
Why don't you provide computers and other equipment?
In the first few years of the competition, we provided computers. Students came to the competition with newer versions of software than were loaded on the host computers and/or used software that wasn't available on host computers. Projects weren't judged because of this. If each student brings a computer, software, and whatever peripherals are needed, then this situation will not occur.
What do I need to bring to the Technology Competition?
A computer and/or device and any peripherals that you need. You also need to bring a works-cited sheet or page for your project that includes the works-cited/permissions for using ANY materials in your project that you did not produce yourself (photos, artwork, music, video, etc).
What things should NOT be brought to the competition?
Students should NOT bring tri-fold displays, peripheral equipment unrelated to the project, any loud or dangerous materials, or anything deemed inappropriate at school.
