Welcome to your first unit in Premiere Pro! In this section, you’ll lay the groundwork for everything you’ll do as a video editor. Just like building a house, editing requires a strong foundation — knowing how to set up a project, organize your media, and start shaping your story on the timeline.
Through a series of short tutorials, you’ll learn how to:
Start Your Edit by setting up your project and workspace.
Add Clips to a Sequence so your video begins to take shape.
Create an Edit Sequence by trimming, arranging, and refining clips on the timeline.
By the end of this unit, you’ll have your very first edited sequence and a clear understanding of how clips come together to form a story. This unit isn’t about creating a polished masterpiece — it’s about becoming comfortable with the tools, understanding how the timeline works, and building the confidence to tackle more advanced edits later.

Demonstrate the results of the first three Premiere Pro tutorials by setting up a project, building a sequence, and applying basic editing skills.
Start Your Edit – Set up your project and organize your footage.
Add Clips to a Sequence – Build a sequence by placing clips in the timeline.
Learn Editing Skills (Create an Edit Sequence) – Refine the sequence with trimming and arranging.
After completing these tutorials, submit the following:
A short sequence (20–60 seconds) that includes at least 6 video clips arranged in a clear order (beginning → middle → end).
An exported video file (MP4, H.264, 1080p). Save as: Foundations_YourName.mp4.
A screenshot of your Premiere Pro timeline showing how your clips are arranged and edited.
In 3–5 sentences, reflect on your editing process. Be sure to include your timeline screenshot.
What did your final sequence look like?
Which editing skill (trimming, arranging, sequencing) was the most useful?
What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
