Welcome to your next Photoshop project! In this lesson, you will learn how to create a "Pop-Out" effect (sometimes called an out-of-bounds effect), where a subject appears to break out of a 2D photo or frame.
By the end of this assignment, you will be comfortable navigating the Photoshop interface and mastering two of the most important tools in digital editing: Layers and Layer Masks.

Today, we are moving beyond basic selections to learn how to seamlessly Remove & Add elements in Photoshop.
You will use tools that professional photo editors use every day to retouch images, blend graphics into skin, and change the colour of objects. All the practice images you need can be found in a Drive Folder attached at the link above.
We will be completing three mini-tutorials today. Click each link to watch the guide:
1. Spot Removal Tutorial (Pimples): Learn how to use healing tools to clean up blemishes and make objects disappear.
2. The Photoshop Tattoo Tutorial: Discover how "Blending Modes" make a flat graphic melt perfectly into the texture of someone's skin.
3. The Hair Colour Tutorial: Practice using adjustment layers and soft lighting effects to realistically change hair colour.
Class 5 - Blending modes - Steam Head
You aim to recreate an image with smoke coming from the person's ears and making their skin tone fire up. Ensure you use good selection techniques, masking and blending modes to make the final image.
Blending Mode Tips:
If you want only the darks to show up from an image, use the Multiply blend mode.
If you want only the lights to show up from an image, use the Screen blend mode.
Soft light will help graphics blend in to your eye a little better.
Double-click on a layer to bring up the Layer Style Dialogue. Select outer glow and make sure the blending mode is on “screen,” Feel free to bring the size and the opacity up and change the colour if you’d like. As the name suggests, this will give your layer a nice outer glow.
Class 6 -Fonts and Brushes
To install a font, start at https://www.dafont.com was the site we used. (there are many others)
Steps:
1) download the font and find the folder ( click and show in folder - this should be your student folder at school)
2) on the zip folder, right click and select extract all
3) in the extracted folder select the font files (there may be other text files and image files), right click and select install
4) the fonts will now be available in the Adobe application
The second website we will look at is https://wordmark.it/ This site will show you all the fonts on your computer and will allow you to create a board of selected fonts for you to choose from.
One more great resource. If you are trying to find a specific font that exist on another image. You can use the following tools to help find a font that is similar.

To unzip the folder, right click on the folder and select extract all.
There is no install feature like we had for fonts. You will need to load this brush from inside photoshop.
Open your brush pallet (Top menu WINDOW ---> Brushes, or F5 will open the brush settings then select the Brushes tab. Click on the four lines in the top right corner to open the menu.
From the menu, select import brushes.
Find the folder and select the file (it will end in ABR)
Your brushes should now be visible. Modify the size of the brush to get the effect you want. In brush setting you can rotate and make other modifications to the brush.

Save & Export Your Work
Once your masterpiece is complete, export it correctly so it can be graded:
Go to File > Export > Export As... or Save a Copy.
Select JPG as your file format.
Rename your file using this exact structure: LastNameFirstName_PhotoChoice.jpg (Example: SmithJane_PhotoChoice.jpg).
Submit both your PSD and JPG image for this project.
