Set up instructions

1. System Configuration

Start/Exit Menu

Set defaults for - English, not metric

@ bottom comment setting English, not metric

@ top comment setting set to English, not metric

Start Exit - Trimetric.dll change to Rast2vec.dll

2. System configuration - Default machine - MP techno MMD-7

Machine type menu - milling - mpt techno - Make sure you have changed your machine type to mptechno

3. Use the rectangle in middle row - change xyz to O

Your origin point or 0 point is extremely important

3a. Under properties menu on left hand side, click on stock setup. Drag the arrow to the bottom left hand corner. This sets the origin. Directly below is select corners. Select the bottom left and upper right of the rectangle. Verify the x and y dimensions of your rectangle.

4. Program files - mccamx7-chooks, Rast2vec.dll

Start/Exit - ad in program - under default trimetric select E:chooks rast2vec.dll

Bring in a jpg - black and white is better.

Alt C - Rast2Vec.dll should come up, then after typing r -finding rast2vec.dll, it should ask you what you want to translate in the C-hooks file. Under spline parameters optimize for lines, corners and arcs - (the default is spline fit, which looks aweful).

Move and scale object to proper location

Use xform move tool to move to proper location

USe xform scale tool to place in position

Toolpaths Menu - contour - c-plane select window

Then we selected the object and selected a point on the object to start.

then click the check mark. Drag a rectangle to highlight your object and then a point on your object. Next a toolpath parametres menu will pop up.

Toolpath Menu - Choose Contour - choose C-plane & window

Cut parametres - First menu - Turn off compensation

Tools- Select library tool - unclick filter active - select tool 305

Lead in/ lead out - Turn off lead in and out

In linking parametres - set depth of cut to -0.0625 - this is also extremely important

Penultimately, we are going to verify our toolpath. Click on the chamfer icon which will bring up a pop up screen. Click on fit and isometric. Hit play, verify it works!!! If lines are too close together, you have an issue. If the cut looks too deep, you have an issue. If the lines are too close together, pick a simpler image or delete some lines.

At this point, save mastercam - save it in the e drive, not in mastercam.

Last step is posting, hit the G1 icon to post. click check mark and save it in the same place as your mastercam file in your e drive. Everyone will get an error message, but it is usually fine.

Bring your posted .NCD file on a USB key to the CNC machine and open it using techno CNC software.

First menu - Turn off compensation
