The Canadian Senior and Intermediate Mathematics Contests (CSMC and CIMC) provide challenging math problems for students to enjoy and enhance their problem-solving skills using a mix of short answer and full solution questions.

Pascal Cayley Fermat math contest: FEB 22nd, 2023
The Pascal, Cayley and Fermat (PCF) Contests are a fun opportunity for participants to explore the potential of mathematics and their role in it. Designed to be accessible both to those that have written math contests in the past and to those who haven’t, these multiple-choice contests can help learners build confidence and inspire them to get excited about math.
Audience: Students in Grade 9 or below are eligible to write the Pascal Contest.
Students in Grade 10 or below are eligible to write the Cayley Contest.
Students in Grade 11 or below are eligible to write the Fermat Contest.
Format: 25 multiple-choice questions
3 parts: Parts A and B follow a traditional multiple-choice format where the answer is A, B, C, D or E. In Part C, participants select a whole number from 0 to 99.
60 minutes [Score out of 150]
Questions are based on curriculum concepts common to all Canadian provinces. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem-solving.
Deadline to register is Febuary 5th on a First come First serve basis. There will be no late registrations allowed after this registration deadline. Online payments open January 20th, 2023.
Paying the online fee is sufficient for registration purposes. Make sure you bookmark Feb. 22nd on your calendar.
Also, our secondary Math club's free numeracy enrichment after-school workshop is

No registration or skills are required for this free in-school workshop.

For any students interested in enrichment opportunities, the first and upcoming University of Waterloo's CISM - Canadian Intermediate-Senior Math Contest (only applicable if you signed up): online registration starts October 1st. The CISM contest will take place Wednesday, November 16th, 9 - 11:30 in our Secondary Cafeteria.

We are currently taking a poll here to see if there is enough interest for our senior grade 11/12 students to write this Euclid year's math contest. Based on this poll results, we will determine if we as a school will run as it will be in person. Using the QR code above in the poster, sign up that BEFORE Feb 28th to show your interest with your email in the google form.
With some of the cohorting restrictions currently still on, other math contest will not be running due to the typically large size of participants and need for space. In the past Euclid contest have more manageable participants numbers.

2021 CISM Canadian Intermediate-Senior Math contest will be held in the main school cafeteria Wednesday, November 17th from 9 to 11:30 am with limited space so first-come-first-served and no late registrations can be permitted. Due to current global events, CEMC, the University of Waterloo has postponed their Fermat Galois Hypatia and Euclid math contest until further notice. While we do not have a definite date for when the CEMC will return, they will continue to monitor the situation and updates will be on the CEMC website. https://www.cemc.uwaterloo.ca/contests/contests.html
