Frequently Asked Questions
When should I register? Can I wait until this summer?
Participants can register at any time, however please understand that some sessions will fill up quickly, and spots will not be held. Registrants are encouraged to sign-up as soon as possible to save a seat, with Early Bird discounts available until April 28, 2020.
What if I register but then realize I cannot attend?
- Full Tuition Registrants: Full tuition registrants receive a full refund if canceled by April 28, 2020, a 50% refund if canceled by June 26, 2019, and are not entitled to any refund after June 26, 2020.
- Nevada Teacher (Reduced Fee Tuition): Due to a steeply discounted tuition, Nevada Teachers (Reduced Fee Tuition) are not entitled to any refund, regardless of cancellation date. No-shows are not entitled to any refund, and are strongly discouraged as we often have waiting lists of participants who would have taken the vacant seat.
What if I can’t attend all four days?
In order to earn graduate credit or PDE credit, attendees must attend all 30 hours of the APSI. In addition, it is expected that all Nevada teachers will attend the institute in its entirety.
I am a Nevada teacher and I have never had to pay to attend the SSAPSI before, why now?
Nevada teachers have been able to attend the SSAPSI free of charge through multiple funding sources including Clark County School District General Funding; essentially the District and state have been paying registration on your behalf. Some of these funding sources have been eliminated. Thus, in addition to rising costs of participants materials, a minimal fee will be required of Nevada Teachers to attend the SSAPSI beginning in 2018. Full cost of the SSAPSI is $875, Nevada Teachers will receive a deeply discounted fee of only $45.
What if I have specific dietary requests?
Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options will be available daily, however, you know your health needs best. Lunch selections will be available upon registration; if none of the options meet your dietary requirements, please feel free to bring your lunch to the SSAPSI. Please contact SSAPSI Staff with any specific questions.
What if I am a nursing mother? Is there a mother’s room available during the institute?
Yes. The SSAPSI will have a safe and secure location available for nursing mothers. Please see SSAPSI Staff in Headquarters for further details.
What if I have accessibility needs for the SSAPSI?
Liberty High School is a two-story building, with elevator access (upon request). Please contact SSAPSI Staff with specific accessibility requests, so we can be sure to assist you.
I have previously attended the SSAPSI, how can I find the credits I earned?
Depending on whether you opted to earn graduate credit from UNLV or PDE credit from CCSD will determine whom you should contact. Please see "Credit Options" for contact information for each of these two options.
