James Moreland Thompson (1875-1940), was born on July 23, 1875 at Big Run, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, son of David K. Thompson and Eva Junkins Thompson.

On April 25, 1905 he married Emma L. Hammond at Big Run, Pennsylvania.
He died on January 14, 1940. He is buried at Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
