Members of ALL HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS are eligible to participate in a number of honor choirs. The following are the honor choirs in which we participate at Norris. Students may participate in other honor choirs (on their own) if they are considering going to college at another school not listed. Please see college websites for specific information.
Nebraska All State Choir
Audition Requirements: Sing 3 -4 excerpts (chosen by NMEA) out of 6 or 7 pieces.
Audition Date: Late September
Audition Format: Students must learn 5 to 7 pieces of choral music. It does not have to be memorized but must be learned very well. On the audition date, NMEA will release the audition selections which are excerpts from the music the students learned. At that time, the students must video record themselves singing the excerpts and upload it to an adjudication site.
Audition Fee: $25 (cost of music is separate and usually around $20)
An important part of the audition is the scales/arpeggios. Those will be posted in Google Classroom once they are available from NMEA.
Scales and arpeggios are at the bottom of this page.
Wesleyan Honor Choir
Audition Requirements: Sing 2-3 excerpts (provided) and a classical solo of your choice.
