Class Expectations

Expectations of Students

  • Take responsibility for your own learning
  • Approach each class and task with a positive attitude
  • Be on time, in your seat, with homework and class materials on the desk (and nothing else!)
  • Bring all materials with you to class each day, including:
    • charged Chromebook
    • headphones (aux cord)
    • 3-ring binder with lined paper and dividers, organized in a way that makes it easy for you to find notes and assignments
    • 1-subject notebook for video notes (composition or wirebound) Biology only
    • assignments and class work
    • pen or pencil
    • calculator
  • Actively engage in your learning - ask questions and contribute positively to class discussions
  • Write down homework in an assignment notebook
  • Utilize Google Classroom to complete and submit assignments
  • Check the class website for materials
  • Sign up for your class Remind messages via either text or email
  • Respect your classmates, the teacher, other people's property, and yourself
  • Follow all policies as outlined in the NRHS Student Handbook, including those on cheating and plagiarism
  • Work cooperatively and diligently at all times
  • No eating or drinking (except water) in class
  • Monitor your progress using the PlusPortals
  • Live up to your potential!

Expectations of Parents/Guardians

  • Create a home environment in which students can perform to the best of their abilities
  • Monitor student's progress and grade using PlusPortals
  • Maintain communication with teacher regarding student's progress
  • Support all school and classroom rules and policies

Expectations of Teacher

  • Create a classroom environment in which each individual can succeed
  • Provide meaningful lessons that will promote the academic growth of students
  • Challenge students to think and act critically
  • Create opportunities to apply information to real world situations
  • Respond to emails and phone calls as quickly as possible
  • Be open to feedback on the course and be flexible to meet the needs of individual students
  • Be fair in assessment of student learning and achievement
  • Be available for extra help during power block and after school by appointment
  • Update student grades on PlusPortals at least biweekly
  • Enforce school and classroom rules and policies consistently
