NHCPL CLASSProject

New Hanover County Public Library (NHCPL) and New Hanover County Schools formed a wonderful alliance late 2017 for the good of all public school students in the county. Students preK-12 have NHC Public Library accounts using staff UID and student ID (lunch) numbers.

What this provides Students & Staff:

  • Students and staff participating in this program can check out two physical books, audiobook, or magazines from the public library
  • Students and staff face no fines for overdue materials
  • Students and staff have full access to all NHCPL online resources from school, their home or in the public library as long as Internet is available

Many exciting resources that will now be available to our students include the following. Students will need to know their Student ID (commonly refered to as their lunch ID in elementary school) number to access all of these resources other than TumbleBooks.

  • TumbleBooks. Interactive ebooks for all ages.
  • NC Kids Digital Library. Read-along books for K-3; ebooks, audiobooks, and streaming video of popular books and movies for preK-8.
  • Tutor.com. Online, verified tutors 24/7. Students and parents can search for tutors by subject and by grade level. Tutors are trained to guide students to find their own solutions, NOT give them the answers.
  • SIRS Discoverer. Part of NC Live. General research for upper elementary through 8th grade. Magazines, journals, newspapers, ebooks and videos.
  • Science in Context. Over 70 Science Fair project ideas with articles, pictures, videos, instructions, and even shopping lists.
  • NoveList Plus. Search for that next great read by Lexile, subject, grade, etc.
