Character Education
We here at Codington believe that children should not only excel academically, but personally and socially as well.
A huge part of my role in the school is to instill values, character, social skills, and self-esteem in ALL of the children. Each month I choose a different theme and/or character trait that is agreed upon among staff based upon the school's needs. I teach weekly in 1st grade specials. In all grades (K-5), I teach at least one lesson on that topic in each classroom per month. The following are some of the character traits and/or themes that I focus on (each month's/year's themes are based on needs assessment data):
