ReadWorks

ReadWorks provides students and families with reading passages, along with corresponding multiple choice questions and short response questions that target comprehension and vocabulary.

In order to access ReadWorks, your child will need to login to an account that I've set for them. However, at the bottom of this page, I've uploaded a few examples of the kind of reading passages and questions that you can find on the site. The passages are organized by lexile level, which is a numerical system used to rank a child's reading level for each grade level. Ideally for second graders, the lexile levels range from 420 - 820. For the passages at the bottom of this page, I've written the lexile level into the title so you can gauge what kind of passages to give your child. If your child is still developing their reading skills, you may want to aim for a lexile level of around 400. If your child is an advanced reader, you can go for lexiles in the 700 - 800 range. I've also provided the answer key for each reading passages' questions.
