Black and Veatch, GIS Specialist Team Lead May 2017 - Date
Creating and deploying different ArcGIS Server services for different project groups team members.
Monitoring, recoverings and restoring of the different ArcGIS Server and services used on the project.
End user training on using web based fiber network design system.
Creating and updating ArcGIS SDE geodatabases.
Incorporating client recommended changes to the database and web mapping application used on the project.
Creating spatial and non-spatial deliverables to the client.
Providing analytical and technical information management solutions using different GIS applications.
Researching various sources for data applicable to the project. Updating the data to a useable format and loading it on the database.
Bechtel Corporation, GIS Analyst August 2015 – May 2017
Performed GIS studies and calculations necessary for engineering, permitting and construction of the Fiber network system on the Google fiber Project.
Provided GIS support to project team members by helping make changes to the conceptual design based on different environmental factors to help in achieving a more feasible FTTH network.
Performed spatial analysis required to derive new GIS datasets needed on the project. Created maps, reports, quantity analysis and write ups from these analyses.
Sourced and managed data needed for the project. Reviewed quality of data both spatially and non-spatially before loading into the database by using SQL queries, topology rules and checks to ensure data meets the client’s required data dictionary specifications.
Recommended better data management procedures to team members to ensure safe upkeep of data to help minimize overall errors in deliverables to the client.
Performed Quality Control and testing of different system rollouts to ensure it met the expected standards related to the Google fiber project as well as the client’s requirement and deliverables.
Provided support to the New Delhi GIS team to help automate extraction of data needed for the creation of strand maps that was used for the creation of permit packages and work release to the construction team.
Provided support to the project team members on the web based fiber network design system; 3GIS, used on the project. Maintained the data in 3GIS and ensuring data integrity between 3GIS and project’s database.
Worked as the GIS lead for one of the four markets on the project.
North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, GIS Technician May 2014-August 2015
Provided GIS assistance to reduce the vulnerability or impact from disasters or diseases on the agricultural community in the state.
Mapped and performed all GIS related tasks in the event of an animal disease outbreak. These include updating the locations of various agricultural communities as well as related attributes in the database.
Ensured all agriculture related GIS layers in the database are up-to-date and provided training to NCDA & CS staff on how to maintain and update layers.
Maintained NC DHHS database and web mapping server by performing monthly updates on the long term care and medical support facilities data in the NC DHHS database. Geocoded and added the location of new facilities as well as made changes to attribute information when necessary in the database. NC DHHS also had additional layers for groups such as air ambulance locations, trauma center locations, state medical response team, etc. in the database that were also updated as needed.
Created a map service package of these updates and published on ArcGIS Server so the information was available on the NCOEMS online mapping service. This service was used to accurately represent the locations of these facilities in the event of a natural or manmade disaster. Provided NC DHHS staff with different mapping needs, geocoded data for incidents/emergency response, designed and printed maps of various sizes, edited and modified spatial and tabular data and designed map templates.
To help with planning on accurate location and maximizing available spaces on the fairgrounds, map booklets were created for the organizers of the fair. These map booklets had the location of all vendors at the fair as well as their appropriate dimensions. A separate map booklet was also created for inspection purposes. This booklet was color coded based on the vendor's’ products and this made it easier to interpret what department (either Food and Drug or Wake County) had to inspect a certain vendor. Rides data for the fair was received and added to the database in addition to the vendor’s data. These data were modified and presented in geographical format. This was used to create the food and ride finder app for fair goers.
North Carolina State University; Project-Access to Healthy Food Locations in Wake County May 2013
Worked on a project for Wake County Human Services (WCHS) to help identify food deserts in the county, providing information on the community’s access to healthy food locations in the county.
Sourced data on food distribution facilities, grocery stores and fast food locations.
Sourced data to help review accessibility within the County such as roads and transportation facilities.
Created a database and web GIS tool showing the food desert locations, access to the healthy food and also help identify gaps in its availability.
North Carolina State University Raleigh, NC. GIS Teaching Assistant August 2012-May2013
Teaching Assistant for Introduction to GIS Graduate course
Graded assignments for 25 and 30 students and ran class help sessions and student message board
Laboratory for Cartography, Remote Sensing and GIS, Nigeria. Intern June 2008-November 2008
Conducted field research on water quality and road transportation
Conducted public survey on different environmental issues; Environmental Impact Assessment
Map/image analysis and projection using ArcGIS and AUTOCAD
Generated and processed raw data to extract geographic information for output analysis
Used remote sensing applications to generate geographical information
