What to Wear

Academic Days - Comply with County Dress Code http://schools.smcps.org/lms/images/pdfs/dresscodeofconduct.pdf

Please note that just because NJROTC sells something on the website does not mean it's appropriate for wear in school (example- pajama pants).

Drill Days - Same as Academic Days, but wear shoes appropriate for drilling. The list of inappropriate shoes is too long to go through them all here, but the point is to wear shoes that enable you to march at a natural gait and execute sharp facing movements.

Physical Training (PT) Days - Running/athletic shoes (provided by cadet), and:

Shirt: either Navy gold PT shirt or NJROTC program/team shirt, and

Shorts: Navy blue PT shorts or NJROTC athletic team shorts

Wearing your own PT shirt and shorts is acceptable, but will result in a lower grade for that day.

Not being dressed out for PT will result in a substantially lower grade for that day.

Community Service Events - If you've earned a Program T-shirt (with the lighthouse on the back), wear that. If not, wear your yellow Navy PT shirt. Other clothing depends on the event.

Athletic Meets - Running/athletic shoes (provided by cadet), green/black/white marbled GM NJROTC 'Hard' shirt, grey GM NJROTC shorts

Drill Meets - Pre-stage your uniform the day before in the trailer, in a GM NJROTC issued travel bag. On the day of the drill meet, bring (if not already pre-staged) shoes, socks, belt, buckle, tight-fitting undershirt, and cover. Wear your GM NJROTC Drill Team warmups on the bus.

Orienteering Meets - Running/athletic shoes (provided by cadet)(not hiking boots)

Novice orienteers - long trousers you don't mind getting muddy and torn by vegetation and rocks. Do not wear leggings, as they do not have pockets or beltloops, and they get ripped up too easily. Jeans are OK in warm dry weather. If it's cold or raining, stay away from cotton.

Veteran orienteers - Coast Guard blue ripstop trousers

Everyone - GM NJROTC blue digi camo orienteering shirt, wristwatch or pocketwatch that does not connect to the internet, 1/2 liter water bottle, GM NJROTC water bottle holder, GM NJROTC whistle, GM NJROTC compass, paper listing International Control Descriptions and terrain features.

Everyone - clothing to keep warm before and after your event. Wool socks recommended, as wool stays warm when wet. If it's going to rain, bring a rain jacket, spare socks, and don't wear cotton (hoodies, sweatpants etc.) as an outer layer.

Feel free to bring additional water, energy gels, spare shoes etc.

Academic Meets - Academic Team polo shirt with magnetic nametag, civilian khaki trousers

CyberPatriot Competitions - CyberPatriot T shirt, and comply with County Dress Code.
