PT Formation
1.The purpose of the movement is to form the platoon for physical exercise. The sequence of commands is: "From front to the rear, count, OFF" "Take interval to the left, MARCH" "Arms, DOWN" "Even numbers to the right, MOVE" To reform to a column the commands are "Assemble, MARCH" and "Cover".
2.The command "From front to the rear, count OFF" is given by the platoon commander in order to designate odd and even ranks.
3. The next command is "Take interval to the left, MARCH". With the platoon in column, the extended interval is set by designating the number of steps the members of each squad take to the left.
a. On the command of execution "March", all members of the squad on the right flank and the guide will cover in file, stand fast, and each member extends both arms sideways at shoulder height , palms down with fingers extended.
b. At the same time, the members of each squad to the left of the base squad will face to the left as in marching and take two, four, or six 30-inch steps (depending on squad). Then Halt, right face , cover in file, stand fast, and extend their arms shoulder height in the same manner as the right file.
c. At the command "Arms, DOWN" the arms are lowered smartly to the side and if armed with rifles the position of order of arms is assumed.
4. On the command "Even numbers to the right, MOVE" all even numbered individuals and the guide will move to their right to the middle of the interval between files. Once in the position, even numbered members cover and assume the position of attention.
5. On the command "Assemble, MARCH", the odd numbered members of the base squad stand fast. Even numbered members of the base squad step left in marching and double time in their position covered on the odd members and the guide will return to the position in front of the base squad leader. All other members will face right and double time, reassemble in column, and stand fast. The command "COVER" will be given for the members to quickly pick up their alignment.
6. The platoon commander gives all commands from a position 6 paces in front of, centered on, and facing the column. He/she makes those movements necessary to maintain that position during the execution of the movement(s).
