*THE RIBBONS BELOW ARE ORDERED IN LEVEL OF SENIORITY*
01) MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT - Awarded to any cadet who distinguishes him/herself only by outstanding meritorious achievement or performance of a meritorious act.. Awarded on a case-by case basis by the area manager.
02) DISTINGUISHED UNIT - Awarded yearly to cadets in good standing who were unit members during the academic year in which the school earned Distinguished Unit status. Awarded to only those units that demonstrated the very highest levels of performance.
03) DISTINGUISHED CADET - Awarded yearly to one cadet in each year group with the highest combined average for overall scholastic standing and aptitude in the NJROTC unit activities. (includes academics, homework, physical fitness, community service, drill, etc.)
04) HONOR CADET - Awarded yearly to one cadet in each year group with the highest overall academic achievement (GPA) in school, including the naval science courses.
05) CADET ACHIEVEMENT - Awarded, when earned, to any cadet, who distinguishes themselves by outstanding achievement or sustained superior performance. The cadet must exhibit exceptional military aptitude and dedication to the program as well as overall excellence in all facets of NJROTC. Awarded on a case-by-case basis by the area manager.
06) UNIT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - Awarded yearly to cadets who were unit members during the academic year in which the school earned Unit Achievement status. Awarded to only 10% of the total number of units in the program.
07) APTITUDE AWARD - Awarded to the top 10% of the cadets based on evaluation of academic performance of assigned jobs, conduct, unit involvement, attendance, and overall aptitude.
08) OUTSTANDING NS-4 - Awarded yearly to outstanding cadets in Naval Science 4 based on academic performance (3.5), first three quarters of the school year.
09) OUTSTANDING NS-3 - Awarded yearly to outstanding cadets in Naval Science 3. Same criteria.
10) OUTSTANDING NS-2 - Awarded yearly to outstanding cadets in Naval Science 2. Same criteria.
11) OUTSTANDING NS-1 - Awarded yearly to outstanding cadets in Naval Science 1. Same criteria.
12) EXEMPLARY CONDUCT - Awarded early to each cadet who demonstrates exemplary conduct for the year.
13) ACADEMIC AWARD - Awarded when earned to each cadet in good standing who has met any of the following: Honor Roll/Academic Team Member.
14) EXEMPLARY PERSONAL APPEARANCE - Awarded twice yearly to all cadets that wear their uniform on all required occasions and have an average of 90% + on inspection and not received an inspection grade below an "A". (this award can be received 3 times in a year based on the results of the NJROTC Area Manager during annual inspection)
15) PHYSICAL FITNESS - Awarded twice a year to any cadet who meets or exceeds physical fitness standards to be given to you at a later time.
16) PARTICIPATION - Awarded when earned to all cadets earning one hour or more participation in at least three separate, non-social NJROTC sponsored events or activities (to include ushering at school events, flag detail, attendance at drill, field/athletic meets, and attendance on field trips).
17) UNIT SERVICE - Unit Service and each subsequent award is earned when a cadet performs superior service to unit. The award may be for sustained service at a level above that normally required of other cadets or it may be for a specific act(s) of superior service.
18) COMMUNITY SERVICE - Community Service ribbons and each subsequent NJROTC award are earned after 12 hrs of properly documented volunteer service.
19) DRILL TEAM - The drill team ribbon may be awarded to all cadets that earn 3 drill team pts, which include parades, meets, and other performances (in order to earn the Varsity letter you must participate in 3 competition performances as a member of the drill team and /or color guard). Other criteria is per the SOP.
20) COLOR GUARD - Awarded when earned to any cadet in good standing who has performed as a member of the color guard for 3 events and additional information as listed in the SOP.
21) RIFLE TEAM - Awarded when earned to any cadet in good standing who has entered competition including all air-operated weapons.
22) ORIENTEERING - Awarded twice a year to any cadet who meets the orienteering qualifications set in the Cadet Field Manual.
23) RECRUITING - Awarded when earned to any cadet that is instrumental in the enrollment of two students or is part of a recruiting effort.
24) BASIC LEADERSHIP TRAINING (BLT) - Awarded to any cadet upon completion of mini-boot camp, Leadership Academy, or similar training approved by the area manager.
25) SEA CRUISE - Awarded to any cadet upon completion of an at sea cruise (vessel must cast off lines and be underway)

SECOND --1 Bronze Star, THIRD--2 Bronze Stars, FOURTH--1 Silver Star
FIFTH--2 Silver Stars, SIXTH--1 Gold Star, SEVENTH--2 Gold Stars, EIGHTH--3 Gold Stars
Ribbons shall be worn in a certain order. The lowest ribbon in seniority shall be worn on the lowest row and outboard. The highest ribbon in seniority will be worn to the top and inboard.
