Grades will be based upon scores in the following categories and will be determined by total points (not percentages).
Homework (not graded or calculated in grade) Point value/percentage is only so parent/student are informed on how much homework is being done. Only accepted late if there is an excused absence.
Culture and Geography (graded, may be turned in late. -10% for each day late)
Graded proficiency practice (graded, but may revise/redo up until a proficient grade)
Quizzes (may retake 2 per quarter, but deadlines must be observed, application process must be completed)
In-class speaking (graded, but non-evaluative)
Summative assessments (MAY NOT retake)
*Semester exams will count as 15% of semester grade
Homework is an expectation and is considered preparation and practice.
Homework should never be translated by another student or program.
Homework will always be gone over in order for student's to self-assess their learning and understanding.
Homework will be risk free and not affect the overall grade of the student.
Homework will be recorded in Infinite Campus to inform parents and students as “M” (missing), “I” (incomplete), and “T” (turned in). I will put in 1 pt for completed homework (not calculated in grade), 1/2 for partial work and M for not done at all.
No extra credit or bonus points will be allowed.
A “0” will be entered only when a score of zero has actually been earned.
Summative Assessments- take a deduction for late projects, 10% per day up to 50%
Graded Work - take a deduction for late work, 10% per day up to 50%, late graded practice cannot be revised
Homework / Classwork - no late work accepted, no changes will be made in Infinite Campus but missing work has to be completed as part of a retake application
Missed quizzes can be made up before or after school, during a study hall,or possibly during a lunch with prior permission. Please make an appointment on the appointment calendar.
Students will participate in Spanish during class in order to earn their points for the day. Speaking in Spanish is an expectation of the course.
