American

American

by Meaghan Labbe

I am an American

Playing and practicing field hockey all day.

Drives,

Sprinting down the field,

like running through the days of our lives.

Push Pass,

Peer pressure, getting pushed into things,

like hustling to run those last few yards toward the goal

when no one says you can make it.

Flicks and lifts,

Trying to soar above everyone else to try and be the best

like an eagle after prey.

Indian Dribble,

Zig zagging through the sea of people I call

friends,

Like dodging through the defenders in the game of

life.

TWEEET!

Game’s over.
