Orange alert: A thunderstorm warning just kicked in

The warning affects the Midlands, West, Northeast and Northwest.
THE WARM SPELL may be continuing this bank holiday Monday – but people in the Midlands, West, Northeast and Northwest are also being advised to expect heavy, thundery downpours this afternoon.
Met Éireann issued a ‘status orange’ thunder warning last night.
It kicked in at midday today, and lasts until 9pm tonight.
The warning covers:
- All of Connacht
- Cavan
- Monaghan
- Donegal
- Carlow
- Kildare
- Kilkenny
- Laois
- Longford
- Louth
- Offaly
- Westmeath
- Meath
It will stay warm this afternoon, with temperatures of up to 24. Similar conditions are expected tomorrow – but there’s also a further risk of thunder.
The warm and humid weather will continue until Thursday at least – but clearer, fresher weather is set to follow on Friday and at the weekend.
Here’s Met Éireann’s outlook for next weekend and the following days:
Temperatures will be closer to normal once again and the weather will be changeable and unsettled, with some dry spells, but rain at times also. Early indications are that this more unsettled trend will continue into next week.
