Fall State Leadership Conference

FBLA Fall Leadership Conference

Masuk’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter has begun the 2017-2018 school year off with a bang! All of Masuk’s current FBLA officers and their advisor Lynn Costello headed off to the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Middletown to participate in this year’s FBLA Fall Leadership Conference. The Masuk chapter has 95 members. Our participants were given the opportunity to be introduced to Connecticut’s state officers, receive a presentation from an esteemed speaker, and learn from various specialized workshops. The day started off with a continental breakfast, followed with a keynote presentation by Michael Mallery, who outlined what it truly means to find your purpose and achieve success. Then, the participants were split up according to their position in their respective chapters and sent off to different workshops.

There were specific workshops for presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, and secretaries, with each of the workshops tailored to specific duties of the officers. Officers learned how to best benefit their chapters through various methods and strategies presented by the state officers in these presentations. Following these individualized workshops, participants were allowed to choose which workshop they wanted to attend next. Masuk’s officers learned copious different skills from these workshops, such as learning how to build confidence in personal branding while properly networking, finding out that beginning to invest for your future can begin with any amount of money and effort, and even focusing on becoming a confident public speaker. The FBLA Fall Leadership Conference was an excellent opportunity for Masuk’s FBLA officers to learn and grow, as well as find new opportunities to succeed in the business world.

The members that attended were Wen Jay Lim (co-vice president), Caitlyn Gruber (co-secretary), Gabby Sardinha (co-secretary), Daniel Rodrigues (co-treasurer), Nisha Honnaya (co-vice president), Amaan Ashab (co-president), Jackson Kelman (co-reporter), Jeho Lee (co-historian), Amanda Dial (co-treasurer), Sahar Sajjad (co-reporter), Mackenzie Metro (co-historian), and Diana Wallet (co-president).
