Ms. Altomer's Classroom • 4th Grade

Please watch the following video for a preview of the project:

The Mohonbots from the high school came to our classroom to work on a STEM engineering project. Students were divided into groups and their mission was to design a simple machines to move a ping pong ball a minimum of 2 feet.

Design

The first step in engineering design is to brainstorm ideas that may work to fix or solve a problem. This is done in cooperative groups.

Build

The second process in engineering design where children create inventions and put their ideas into action.

Evaluate

The third process of engineering design where children evaluate and brainstorm ideas to improve their creations. After this point, students will redesign and reevaluate.

Present

After the projects were completed, students were to present and explain their compound machine.
