Education Technology
1:1 laptop implementation: Marian Central Catholic High School has implemented a 1:1 initiative, where each student will receive a school owned laptop. Please see the student handbook and course syllabus for all information regarding laptop/technology policies.
In this course we will use Turnitin.com, an automated system which instructors can use to quickly and easily compare each student’s assignment with billions of websites, as well as an enormous database of student papers that grow with each submission. Accordingly, you will be expected to submit all assignments both in hard copy and electronic format. After the assignment is processed, as an instructor I receive a report from Turnitin.com that states if and how another author’s work was used in the assignment. For a more detailed look at this process, visit http://turnitin.com. Essays are due at Turnitin.com the same day as in class.
LOGIN information was given on the first day of class. It is also posted in the classroom, on the syllabus, and in the Turnitin section on this website.
Please be sure to use an active email account (NOT MARIAN GAFE). If you forget your password, you will need an accessible way to retrieve it. I suggest collecting account usernames and passwords in an assignment notebook or phone.
Also in this course students will be asked to use Google Classroom, a safe and secure online learning platform that allows for students and teachers to connect and collaborate online. Teachers can create and submit engaging assignments and provide feedback online. See the Google Classroom section on this website for more information and for student and parent login access codes.
Noredink.com will be used for grammar study, and wordlywise.com will be used for vocabulary study. Information regarding these two programs can be found on the course syllabus.
