Originally from Findlay, Ohio, I received both my B.S. degree and M.Ed. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. My first teaching job after college was here at Marian Central, and I am thrilled to be back, teaching with former students and teaching several "grand-students!" After teaching at Marian for six years, I stayed home to be with my sons (now adults). I then taught middle school English, literature, and music at St. Mary Woodstock (my home parish) for fifteen years. While there, I also directed two choirs, the fall play, and the spring musical. From there I moved to Saints Peter and Paul in Cary, where I continued to teach middle school English and literature. For one year, I continued my language arts journey at Montini in McHenry, before returning to Marian in 2016.
My passion and experience in theatre and dance gave me the opportunity to stay active in drama and musical theatre, as I continued to direct and choreograph in the Woodstock area since my arrival in McHenry County in 1985. My husband and I are active in a variety of ways in our parish. I also love to read - especially anything by C.S. Lewis or any books with social justice themes!
This year I am teaching English IIH, AP Lang/English 4H, and AP Lit! In the past I have had the privilege of directing the fall play and have been part of the musical production team as the choreographer; however, this year, I will continue to serve as faculty moderator/advisor for The Friends of Rachel Club, Nom de Plume (Writers Society), and the Green Club, while also serving as the English department chair.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to an exciting year together!
