After a light early morning rain, things warmed up as I headed south to Phoenix. The train was amazing, something Disney commissions for its theme park rides with comic cacti and mountains showing off their skill with erosion patterns. I was purposefully not going to visit Community Colleges in the Phoenix area because the City is in a flat area surrounded by many cities that all sprawl into one another (like Los Angeles) and I was more interested in smaller unique communities. However, when driving south the sign to Glendale Community College popped up on the expressway and I could not help myself. As expected the College is large, flat, and suburban and pretty vacant on a Saturday, except for a swim meet, a program targeting local high school students, and a two year nursing degree program that only holds classes on weekends.
But the College was warm and open and the perfect place to get off the bike and do some writing and blog posting.
