Gennifer Markert

My name is Gennifer Markert and I am the Special Education Coordinator at MAAC Community Charter School. I was born in Chula Vista and lived there until my senior year of high school when my mom and I moved the East County.

I now live in Spring Valley with my husband Scott. We have 2 grown children - Laura and Daniel, a son-in-law – Steve, a daughter-in-law – Megan and 3 grandchildren – Brendan, Katelyn and Sophia. Everyone lives in San Diego so we get to see each other all the time - which is great! We get together most every weekend and in the fall and winter, we like to go camping as a family out to the desert.

I went back to school when my kids started high school. I attended Cuyamaca College, Southwestern College and San Diego State where I received my Bachelors degree in 2003, my level 1 Education Specialist credential and my CLAD credential in 2005 and my clear level 2 Education Specialist credential with an Autism Authorization and my Masters degree in Special Education with an emphasis on mild to moderate disabilities in 2007.

I have taught at Sweetwater High School, Chula Vista Middle School, Chula Vista High School and Hilltop Middle School before coming to MAAC Community Charter High School. I have been at MAAC for 8 years and absolutely love it here! The students here are just the best and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!
