(1) Mexican or Mexican/American descent
(2) Plan to attend college or vocational school
(3) Grew up in a single-parent home
(4) Low-income

Colibrí MX Scholarship: An IME Becas Scholarship
The Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, in partnership with MAAC, launched the Colibrí MX Scholarship in December 2019. This scholarship aims to promote access to higher education for immigrant students of Latino descent residing in San Diego County.
Be a first-time college student (No prior enrollment in college)
Be enrolled for Fall 2025 semester, minimum 6 credit hours (Must provide proof of enrollment before award is granted)
Have a 2.5 cumulative high school GPA or above
Be an immigrant of Latinx descent or the child of immigrant parents of Latinx descent (Must submit a copy of the birth certificate or personal identification)
Demonstrate financial need
Reside within the County of San Diego

Essay Requirements
Write a 1-2 page essay describing your educational goals, the benefit of being bilingual in a 21st-century global community, and any hardships or adversities you have overcome. Please do not use a prior essay that does not address the information requested. The essay may be written in a language other than English.
