Unit 04: Hair & Fiber Evidence

10/18 & 19--We will begin this unit with our Microscope Review lab. If you have lost your copy, I have attached it below!

Just in case you forgot how to set up a wet mount slide, please review this brief video below:

We will be doing this for the evaluation of fibers for this review lab.

10/15-16--Begin Hair & Fiber Intro. We will brainstorm about the characteristics of Hair first.

Our first powerpoint is on hair:

10/23-10/24-- Hair ID Lab. First day, we looked at our own hair by producing a wet mount.

The second day, we looked at the cuticle scales of our own hair by using clear nail polish to produce a cuticle impression.

The third day, we looked at several different animal and human prepared slides as well as completed the first two days.

10/29-- We began notes on Fibers

10/31 & Nov. 1: Fiber ID Lab. Day one we analyzed fibers using microscope. Day 2 we completed fiber burn testing.
