Orange Groups

Orange Road to Reading

This week try to make a list of words THAT include letter blends in the word. You can take a room in the house and look around to find objects, furniture, toys or things that contain any of the blends below. Or think of the words yourself or find them in books. Underline the letters that make the blends.

Try to do as many of the letters in the alphabet as you can. Ask for help.

LETTER BLENDS

sh, ch, dr, gl, gr, ll, ff, bl, cl, fl, gl, sk. sl, pl, cr, br, fr, pr, tr, th, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, tw, _mp,_sk, _st, _ft, _lt, _nt, _lf, _lp, _nd,

Diagraphs: qu, ph, th, wh, ck

For example your paper can look like this: I've done the first 3 for you and given you hints.

a. alphabet letters (what blends would you underline?) challenge use the "b" to start the next word

b. block (what blends would you underline?) challenge use the "c" to start the next word

c. checked (what blends would you underline?) challenge use the "d" to start the next word

d. dr_ _ can you finish the word? (what blends would you underline?)

e. e_ _ o r t (hint: something you do to make things happen)

f.

g.

h.

i.

j.

k. keep going! (hint: what room in the house makes yummy things to eat?)

Continue all the way through to z.

What might be fun is to ask your mom or dad what the word is in another language if your family speaks more than one language. Speak up! Ask questions and explore words with them.

Good luck. 👩‍🏫
