Current Events

Dear Bridge Community,

We are in the final push until the end of the school year! It is hard to believe that there are roughly only two months  left in school! I am writing to inform you that starting in the '23-'24 school year, that the pro-social skills on the Physical Education report card are changing to better reflect the outcomes that fit the needs of our student population. Our new updated wording on our pro-social skills are:

(SEL: Social Awareness and Relationship Skills; LPS Core Value: Care For Yourself & Others)

(SEL: Self-management & Responsible decision making; LPS Core Value: Do Your Part)

Why did the PE department update these standards?

The new pro-social skills better reflect the needs of our students and they include some of the Lexington Public Schools Core Values. There is an added emphases on positivity, respect for others, and personal responsibility.

Why the change now?

Despite the fact that we still are in a COVID world, the needs of students has changed drastically in the last 3-5 years. Those 2 to 3 years of disrupted or "abnormal" learning lead missed opportunities to connect with others, work on social and emotional skills, and it challenged all of our mental well-being. With these new standards, we are making more of an emphasis in our classes on these new standards - as we realized that our students needed to work on these things.

What if I have other questions?

Be well and enjoy the rest of the year!
