Expectations:
To ensure that this class is a safe, comfortable, and academic environment, the following expectations must be maintained:
1. Show respect for others at all times.
2. Support others in learning at all times.
3. Make responsible choices about academics and behavior.
Materials:
Please keep a one-inch binder solely for United States History. Your binder should be divided into four sections:
1. Kick-offs--paper for class warm-ups
2. Toolkit—a reference section. You will keep the papers, especially your History Handbook, in this section for the entire year.
3. Assignments—a section with the assignments for each unit. All assignments in each unit will help prepare you for the Final Unit Assessment. Therefore, it is very important that you keep these assignments organized in your binder until the end of the unit.
4. Assessments—a section to hold tests, quizzes and other projects.
Our textbook is United States History: Independence to 1914 (Austin: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 2006). You will have one copy to keep at home and one to use in the classroom. We will also use several additional primary and secondary sources to supplement the textbook.
Please see your History Handbook for other helpful hints.
