How You Can Help

Lives are being redeemed in one of the darkest places on earth - prisons. It takes a virtual army of volunteers to be the hands and feet of Christ in this mission. Some actually go into the prison for the 4 Day event, and some cook meals while many, many others contribute donations, posters, placemats, cookies, and write letters. All can be in prayer.

Your contributions are part of God's plan to bring the light of Christ into this very dark place. Thank you for being willing to be in His plan.

Get Involved

We need your help. There are many opportunities for you to serve in this ministry. All we ask is that you have a willing heart and a spirit of obedience and you can play a crucial role in God's ministry of Changing Hearts, Transforming Lives and Impacting the World. Here's some basic information to help you "get involved." Click HERE to Get Involved

Be a Team Member

Kairos volunteers come from all walks and strata of life. They all share a desire to follow Christ's admonition of Matthew 25:36, "I was in prison and you visited me." If you wish to serve with our team, please contact our advisory council. We have recently had team members travel from other states such as Colorado and New Mexico to serve in the Neal Unit. At Neal, we have only men over 18 serving inside the prison. We have men, women, and children serving on our outside support team at Bishop De Falco Retreat Center. Both inside and outside teams are needed to have a successful Kairos weekend.

For those too far away, if you feel God's call to minister to the incarcerated or the female family member of someone incarcerated please go to your state on the Ministry Map and contact the State Chairperson to inquire about how you can get involved, or contact the KPMI office to find out about qualification and training and to be put in touch with the local Kairos community. Not all team members serve inside correctional institutions. Kairos Outside weekends are usually held at church camps (and similar facilities).

Prayer... Our Greatest Need

We need your prayers for the success of the mission. All Kairos activities are covered with prayer. You can be a part of that prayer effort. Contact us! You can find many of our prayer vigils on a www.3dayol.org

Please pray for:

  • Kairos Participants for the Weekend
  • Kairos Graduates of Previous Kairos Weekends
  • Prison Warden
  • Prison Chaplain
  • Prison Guards and Staff
  • Kairos Weekend Leader and Spouse
  • Inside Team
  • Support Team
  • That the will of God be accomplished

Be a Support Volunteer

Each Kairos retreat weekend has opportunities for outside support, writing letters of support, or preparing meals. Get your church's Sunday school classes to color placemats for mealtime in prison. Provide Agape, see below.

Attend a Kairos Closing

Come to the Closing Ceremony on Sunday and be a witness to the glorious work of the Holy Spirit. Both men and women are welcome to attend the closing. An application for closing can be submitted to the current Weekend Leader. Applications are approved by the Warden.

Financial Support

A Kairos weekend is provided at no cost the Prison Unit. None of the participants pay for a thing. We provide all the meals, supplies, cookies, and more for the weekend. This includes thousands of cookies as a representation of God's love. We even provide things not considered by most when they imagine what money goes to, such as toilet paper and coffee. You can sponsor a single meal for an inmate for as little as $5. Some of our volunteers have the heart and time to spend serving on the team but lack the suggested team donation. Each team member for the Neal Unit is asked to donate $175. You can cover the donation for a team member or even for a married couple which is $300. Some units allow for Kairos Teams to bake cookies as Agape. Our unit requires our cookies be prepared by a professional bakery. We have THOUSANDS of cookies given in a single Kairos Weekend. As you can imagine, this can be a large expense. Individuals and businesses can donate to support a weekend.

    • Write letters on white paper
    • Don't seal the envelope
    • Short "note" from children has an Incredible impact for Christ!
    • Children (first name only and age)
    • No return addresses on letters

Make Posters

Sunday school classes, Bible study groups, reunion groups, youth groups, and even families can make a poster that expresses the hope found in Christ. These messages of Love from the Body of Christ has a powerful Impact on hardened Hearts.

Poster Guidelines

    • What is on the poster is not so Important. It can be a simple trace of Hands or a beautiful work of art. What is important is that the poster be created in love. Colorful posters are encouraged.
    • It should have the name of the group.
      • If the group is a family, only put first or last names.
      • Example: Jack and Jill Smith have children named Sue, Sam, and Steve. The poster could say, "From Smith Family" or "From Jack, Jill, Sue, Sam, and Steve."
    • It should have the people in the group's names. (If kids, first name only and age.) Examples:
      • "Washington Street Church in Amarillo, TX" (then have everyone sign their first and last names, maybe add a word of encouragement.)
      • "North Baptist 2nd Grade Sunday School" (then have each child ONLY sign their first name)
    • No stickers, glitter, or glue

Either physically hand posters to a team member or mail to:
