Instrument closet space is to be used for instrumental storage ONLY! Instruments are to be put in their cases, and the cases kept closed and latched while in the storage area. NO INSTRUMENTS ARE TO BE KEPT IN THE INSTRUMENT CLOSET OVER THE WEEKENDS OR BREAKS.
Students are expected to practice regularly outside of band class. Students are not allowed to leave their instrument unattended at any time outside the designated storage area. There will be consequences for any student whose instrument is brought to us by another student, teacher, etc. -- whether it is found on or off school property.
JTMS provides a limited number of instruments for student use. These instruments include the bass clarinet, bassoon, oboe, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, french horn, euphonium, trombone, and tuba. There is also a very limited amount of flute, clarinet, alto sax, and trumpet available. This equipment is generally purchased by the school district for student use, thus all district-owned equipment must be handled with care. Students failing to take proper care of their district-owned instruments may lose the privilege of using such instruments. Students will be held responsible for damage caused to all district-owned instruments issued to them.
Students and parents must sign an instrument checkout form before the student can use an instrument.
Beginner Students
If this is your first time learning an instrument, welcome to the wonderful world of music! If you would like to play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, or trumpet and do not have one of your own, please refer to “The Music Den”, or any other music store for their policy and pricing on renting instruments. If you are interested in any of the following instruments, (Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, French Horn, Baritone Horn, Trombone, or Tuba) please let Mrs. Kulick know so that you can be assigned a district-owned instrument.
