Students' content grade will be a direct reflection of learning and represents 100% of the grade calculation. In the grade book you'll see an essential learning like, "1.5 Rewrite and use literal equations and common formulas." The number 1.5 means this concept can be found in our text book in chapter 1 section 5. In the grade book you may find all learning targets for the year. This is to allow students to progress at their own pace and I can give credit to students working ahead.
Students' work habits grade will reflect the behaviors exhibited in class around their learning. Work habits will include standards for mathematical practice, as well as assignment completion.
Assignment point system: When a student demonstrates that they have learned a target, they will get credit. Learning targets (and work habits) are scored on a 4 point scale:
4-Mastery 3-Proficient 2-Approaching 1-Struggling 0-Unsatisfactory
A blank grade indicates that a student has not had the opportunity to demonstrate the learning yet. Grades are fluid and may go up or down depending on demonstration of skills.
Letter grade cutoffs:
A if score ≥ 3.5
B if 2.6 ≤ score <3.5
C if 1.8 ≤ score <2.6
D if 1.2 ≤ score <1.8
F if score <1.2
