ARRIVAL:
My parents need to park at E Door. Our classroom, K24 is immediately the first one on the left as you enter the building. Please remember to use you ID card to check your child in and out. I will be standing at the door to help your child get in the classroom. The school doors open at 7:30 a.m. The doors will lock at 8:00. If you arrive after 8:00, you can check your child in under the awning going in the double doors of the ELV. Please try to get your child to school each day by 8:00. We have our main learning time of each day starting at 8:00. The checking in and out routine each day is an important safety measure!
If your child is sick or will not be at school on a certain day, please send me a message. I contact the cafeteria each morning by 8:15 every day with our class total and number of lunches to prepare. I appreciate it very much. I also turn in an attendance report to the office by 8:30.
DISMISSAL:
The same procedures apply for afternoon pickup as morning. If your child has a sibling, someone will contact that child and send him/her to my classroom. This way, each child and siblings will be at the same place for pickup.
We do have an After School Care Program. This program begins at 3:30 and ends at 5:30. If you plan to use this program, let me know as soon as possible.
Anyone that will pick up your child must be listed on the child’s RenWeb account as an authorized person to pick up your child.
DAILY SCHEDULE:
We will have a schedule that includes: Circle time, Play time, Snack, Lunch, Recess, Bible time, P.E., Music, Learning centers, Naptime, Bathroom (4 or 5 times). I will get our schedule soon and you will get a copy.
POTTY BREAKS:
My assistant and I will take the children to the restroom four or five times a day. After completing pull up change, each child will wash hands with soap/water and dry with paper towels. Of course, this is the year to try potty training your little one. We will do our best to assist you in this endeavor.
CURRICULUM:
You can be confident that Jackson Christian is committed to making your child’s transition from home as easy as possible. Of course, most of
my class were here last year. It will still be a bit of a transition. My assistant and I will hold, cuddle, hug and talk to your toddler. Teachable moments will be based on your child’s individual needs and developmental level. We will have Circle time every day. This is where we talk, sing, and read. I teach skills and review skills. I know their attention spans will be short at the beginning of the year. As the year progresses, the toddlers will be able to sit for longer. I am a believer in a routine. If a child knows exactly what to expect at certain times, he/she are more comfortable and successful in learning.
Each child will have a folder. This folder will come home every day. Inside the folder there is a left pocket - Keep at home and a right pocket – Send back. Any time papers come home on the Keep at home side, please empty those out. The papers that might come home on the Send back side need to come back to me. Your child’s backpack must be large enough for this folder to fit.
STIMULATING ENVIRONMENT:
Our classroom has been designed and decorated to create an interesting environment for movement and exploration. Carefully selected books and toys will positively affect your child’s language, motor, cognitive, and social skills. Listening to books being read and singing is a priority and a pleasure! Selected learning themes are chosen by topic and season. I love arts and crafts. Some of the projects (an alphabet animal with each letter of the alphabet) will stay at school. At the end of the year, your child will have a Memory Book to bring home.
LOVE AND SAFETY:
Your toddler is already loved, and we have been anxiously waiting for this year to begin!! Safety is a major priority! Two adults will be with our class. Your child will be supervised all day. Inside the classroom and outside, teachers are very observant. I know how important it is for your child to feel comfortable and secure in our environment. We do take part in Tornado, Intruder, and Earthquake drills throughout the school year. These are carried out in a calm and orderly manner. My classroom door is kept locked during the day.
BIBLE:
My class will have Bible each day. We will sing songs and have Bible stories. We will have prayers during the day. My goal is to build on your child’s foundation of the Love of God! Toward the end of the year, we will have short Memory verses that the toddlers will say.
EMERGENCIES:
If your child gets sick during the day, you will be notified immediately. Usually, a text message is the quickest method of response. In case of a school wide emergency, please make sure you have signed up for our school wide text and/or phone calls. This method is greatly used by our school as a method of communication to parents.
PARENT-TEACHER COMMUNICATIOIN:
Your child will have a daily Log Sheet that gives bathroom events, snack, lunch, and special notes. This will come home every day. Please sign your initials, put back inside the folder (Send back side) and put in your child’s backpack.
Some other means of communication we will have is a monthly calendar that I will send home. This calendar will include Letter for the week, Color of the week, Shape of the week, special things going on during the month, any skills for each week, Bible story for each week, and Birthdays for the month. You will get a lunch menu and a snack menu for each month.
THANK YOU AND CAN’T WAIT TO SPEND TIME WITH YOUR SWEET TODDLER!!
