Summer Opportunities
If you are looking for playing opportunities during the summer, check out the links below. There are many other opportunities out there, but these are a few that we recommend. Most places offer financial aid if you are in need.
Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS)
GTCYS's two non-auditioned summer programs provide students of all abilities, ages 8-18, with opportunities to learn and perform exciting orchestral repertoire and make new friends. First-time orchestra students and advanced players are encouraged to participate!
The 2014 MYS Summer Program will incorporate Baroque performance practice, improvisation, theory, and dance into ensemble playing.
Shell Lake Arts Center, Shell Lake, Wisconsin
The Shell Lake Arts Center provides several summer programs, including jazz ensemble, extreme strings, piano, and many more!
UW River Falls Brass Chamber Music Camp
The River Falls Brass Chamber Music Camp will be July 14-18, 2014, and is open to students completing grades 7-12 who play trumpet, trombone, horn, baritone/euphonium, or tuba.
International Music Camp is located on the border of the US and Canada and offers several camp sessions throughout the summer.
Join high school students from around the nation in this intense and exciting week of music-making under the direction of the internationally acclaimed St. Olaf College music faculty.
A four-week residential training and performance program for students of all religious backgrounds. Lutheran Summer Music Academy will be held June 22 - July 10, in Decorah, IA.
Interlochen Center for the Arts
Located in northwest Michigan, Interlochen Arts Camp offers summer programs for grades 3-12.
MacPhail Center for Music Summer Camps 2014
Summer camps at MacPhail provide a fun and unique learning opportunity to explore music in a creative environment and develop skills that will last a lifetime. Some of the most popular camps have been Rock/Jazz, Composition, Composing for Video Games, Mallet Camp, Home Recording Bootcamp, and Hip-Hop camp. Camps are offered at three different locations: Minneapolis, Apple Valley, and Chanhassen.
MacPhail's Allegro Orchestra Camp offers 3rd-12th grade students who have played their instrument for 2+ years the opportunity to rehearse and perform full orchestra repertoire in ability-based groups. This year, the camp will be held from June 16-20 and June 23-26 at MacPhail's Minneapolis location.

McNally Smith College of Music Summer Workshops 2014
McNally Smith offers several different camps, including vocal, guitar, hip-hop, and jazz. Jam with peers, study with expert faculty, perform on stage, and record in the studio - all in one exciting week!
