Meet the Directors

BHS Band Director, Keith French

Keith French is a second generation band director so band music is in his blood! Keith came to Burnsville after teaching for eight years at Cannon Falls High School. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Minnesota, where he played trombone in the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble I. Keith lives in Cannon Falls with his wife, Marci, and dog, Chaos.  In his spare time, Keith enjoys bike riding, skiing, spending time with his family, and, of course, listening to and playing music!

BHS Band Director, Nick Armstrong

Nick Armstrong is an alumni of the Burnsville High School band program. Nick returns to Burnsville High School after spending eight years teaching band and orchestra at Eagle Ridge Middle School. He holds a bachelors and masters degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of St. Thomas where he held the principal trumpet spot in their wind ensemble and toured internationally to India, Croatia, and Bosnia. His masters research was centered in culturally relevant teaching practices for instrumental music ensembles. Nick lives in Apple Valley with his wife, Maren, and son, Bennett. In his spare time he enjoys working in his yard, taking walks, going to the Minnesota Zoo with his family, and performing in various groups on his trumpet.
