Scheduled Backup automatically backs up your data at predefined intervals to help protect against data loss or corruption. The scheduled backup process includes both the Application Database and the System Database, ensuring that business data, system settings, and configuration information are securely preserved. By creating backup copies on a regular schedule, the system enables quick recovery when needed, eliminating the need for manual database backups.
Scheduled Backup utilizes HRPro's Business Alert feature in conjunction with Windows Task Scheduler to execute backup jobs automatically, eliminating the need for manual database backups.
For Scheduled Backup to function, the Internet Information Server (IIS) must interact with the Operating System. Therefore, it's essential to assign Advanced Access Rights to IIS if this has not already been done. (Refer to "Grant Advanced Access Rights for Internet Information Server" for detailed instructions).
Go to System Manager > Database Backup
Enable Scheduled Backup: Check the Enable Scheduled Backup check box
Backup Location: Select a secure location where the backup files will be stored. You can leave the Backup Location blank if you prefer to back up to the default backup location defined by the SQL Server. Ensure that the backup location has enough storage space to accommodate your data.
Daily at: Specify the exact time for the backup to run to minimize disruption (e.g., during off-peak hours). Optionally select whether you wish to back up on Saturday, Sunday, or not.
Rotation Scheme: Define how long you want to keep the backups before they are deleted or overwritten. Retention policies help manage storage space and ensure that old backups are removed after a certain period.
7 Days: Backups are kept for 7 days before they are overwritten. This ensures that you have a week's worth of backup data available for recovery.
31 Days: Backups are retained for 31 days before they are overwritten. This provides a month-long backup history for more extended data recovery options.
Windows User ID (Domain\User): Provide an administrator User ID to allow to running of the Windows Task Scheduler on the server.
Password: Provide the password for the Windows User ID to allow to running of the Windows Task Scheduler on the server.
Email Notification: If you want an email notification, Input the email address, CC, subject and message otherwise leave it blank.
Click the Apply button to start the schedule.
To disable the schedule, uncheck the Enable Schedule Backup checkbox.
For different schedule frequency settings, you can modify the Database Backup Job in Business Alert.
