💜 Go Purple for Epilepsy Awareness Day! 💜
Did you know that today, March 26, is Purple Day?
What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain and can cause people to have "seizures." Think of it like a temporary "electrical storm" in the brain that might make someone's body shake, or sometimes just make them stare blankly for a minute.
Why does this day matter?
Purple Day was actually started by a 9-year-old girl named Cassidy Megan! She wanted to let people know that having epilepsy is nothing to be embarrassed about and that kids with seizures are just like everyone else. By learning about it, we help make our school a supportive place where no one feels alone.
How can you show support?
Wear Purple
Be a Good Mate: If you ever see someone having a seizure, stay calm, stay with them, and call a teacher right away.
Spread the Word: Tell a friend one thing you learned today about Epilepsy.
Let’s turn the school purple and show our support!
Auckland City Mission Food and Goods Collection
Your class student leader will need to count how many food and goods your class has collected, as well as create a creative display.
I wonder which class will collect the most and make the best creative display?
Student Leaders, please ensure your class’s image is added to the slides sent to your teacher by Friday.
Please give the donated items to your class student leader or your teacher. It’s still not too late.
