Pension Information

Some Reminders

Unpaid Leave and Your Pension

If you are out on unpaid leave for any extended time due to illness, maternity, etc. make certain you request an unpaid leave of absence. Only board approved unpaid leaves will be eligible for purchase of that time through the pension.

Date of Birth on File

It's never too early to verify that the pension has proof of your date of birth on file - you can check this information now prior to retirement. If you forward copies of your birth certificate to the pension, be sure to write your membership number/social security on the copy provided.

Letter of Intent

Be sure to submit your request to the Board for approval of your retirement. At least 6 months prior to the retirement date, submit your application to Trenton for processing.

Veterans

If you are a veteran, be sure to submit your documentation to the pension.

Member Benefits Online System (MBOS) Information

Before you can use MBOS you must register with both MBOS and the myNewJersey website. Registration for MBOS requires several steps. Be sure to read the registration instructions.

Pension Loan

The Pension Loan application allows you to see how much you may borrow from your pension account, view estimates of different loan and/or repayment amounts, and — if you wish to — submit an online request for processing of a pension loan check.
