Rules, Consequences and Rewards

Dear Second Grade Parents,

It is with pleasure that I welcome your child in my class. We can all look forward to a very exciting and rewarding school year. In order to give my students the excellent educational climate they deserve, I have developed the following Classroom Discipline Plan that will be in effect at all times.

RULES:

1. Be Respectful

2. Be Responsible

3. Always Try Your Best

4. Be Safe

SEVERE CLAUSE: NO Fighting, Weapons, Stealing and Willful Disobedience/Disrespect

If a student chooses to follow the rules, he/she can expect a point for that day. I will give praise and points for prizes. Some prizes are stickers, pencils, prize box, homework pass and special activity time. Please also reinforce this excellent citizenship with your own rewards at home.

If a student chooses to follow all the rules and goes above and beyond being a good citizen:

· First Time (BLUE)= Student will get a point.

· Second Time (GREEN)= Student gets 2 points.

· Third Time (OFF THE CHART)= Teacher wears pin and sends a positive note home. The student will earn 3 points and RAM Reward Slip for Spirit Assembly.

If a student chooses to break a rule:

· First Time (YELLOW) = A verbal reminder as to how to best follow the classroom rules and pay one point to the teacher

· Second Time (ORANGE) = Student receives a time out in another room to complete a think sheet and pays two points to the teacher.

· Third Time (RED) = Student’s think sheet is sent home to let you know about your child’s behavior. Please sign the note and have your child return it to school the next day. The student will pay the teacher three points.

· Fourth Time= Student sent to office with office referral and they pay 4 points.

· Breaking the SEVERE CLAUSE will automatically receive an office referral

· Pink Slip at Recess = Detention at recess

There is a chart that allows your child to know exactly where they are in consideration to their behavior. On the chart, it says:

v Great Job- I am demonstrating excellent behavior and work habits.

v Ready to Learn- I am demonstrating good behavior and work habits.

v Slow Down- I need a reminder when I am following directions and learning.

v Think About It- I can make better choices. I will think of ways to improve.

v Parent Contact- A note will go home and I will need to bring it back with an adult signature.

It is in your child’s best interest that we work together to develop good citizenship. If your child does not get points for the day please plan for consequences at home. Field trips and special activities in and out of class are a privilege for students who demonstrate that they can consistently follow rules. If a child demonstrates that they are not able to follow school and class rules then they will not be able to participate in any special activities that our class takes part in. Thank you for you continued support.
