Language Arts - Benchmark Advance

In class, there are typically 2 short reads, one or two extended reads, and a decodable as part of the weekly reading lessons. The homework packet will include a weekly focus list that introduces the spelling, phonics, and high frequency words.

Our texts are divided into themes that explore an "Essential Question." They last three weeks and do not follow a typical Monday through Friday schedule. Tests are given following the end of each section of the topic.

Some units also have a project for our concept/question board. The student will be asked to create or bring in something related to our theme and give a small presentation. Students should be well prepared to discuss project in complete sentences. Items should be made, researched, or prepared by student. Parents may help by ensuring the the projects are completed on time, neat, colorful, and spelled correctly.
