Week 5
Day 3
I really enjoyed the video about Chipotle, it brought up some really interesting ideas about what it takes to become a successful restaurant. I had never before heard of the term fast casual but I definitely think that is the best way to describe Chutney Rolls. I really think the business has a lot of potential but the restaurant business is one of the hardest to break into and there are so many things pushing against Chutney Rolls’ success. There is a lot of work to be done especially a lot of research. My team has a lot of good hypothesis about the customer breakdown and value proposition. I hope by Monday we will be able to lock down and confirm the what we are already thinking. I’m really looking forward to planning the guerrilla marketing tactics. I feel like I’m constantly writing down ideas for it but really before we can get serious about that there needs to be some serious rebranding done for Chutney Rolls.
I chose this blog post because here I am starting to understand the importance of research. I'm still eager to "do" but I am understanding that there are a lot of steps that come before that.
Week 7
Once again the team split up to get multiple to optimize our time. Corey and Michelle went back to Case to drop off the flyers we made and Olivia and I stayed at school to work on our presentation for tomorrow. Olivia and I got a lot of work done on the presentation which was good since we will not have time to prepare tomorrow morning. Corey and Michelle got bad news at Case while Olivia and I were working. Yesterday Corey and I asked one of the dining halls if we would be able to put trifolds up on the table advertising Chutney Rolls and we were told by one of the managers that we could. We also asked if the dorm advisors could hand out flyers with a promotion for Chutney Rolls in the the two main dorms on campus. When Corey and Michelle got there they were told that they couldn’t put up the trifolds in the dining hall and flyers in dorms were on for Case affiliated things so Corey and Michelle found new places to put up all the flyers and trifolds that they made. Olivia has been having a lot of success in contacting local festivals about having Chutney Rolls being one of the food booths. Chutney Rolls can potentially be at Case’s Springfest and at Ingenuity Fest this year and Hessler Street Fair next year. Being part of the musical and all the days off we had recently has made it doing work for this company very hard. After school today Corey, Michelle, and Olivia met up to work on the presentation more and divvy up the slide but I couldn’t go because I had a brush up rehearsal for the musical and I didn’t leave until 8pm. It was especially hard last week because it was tech week and I didn’t get out of rehearsal until 9pm most nights and didn’t get home until 10 pm.
In this blog post I talked about the challenges of balancing the work of an entrepreneur and a student.
