Last Friday, the teachers, administrators and staff came together for the 2nd annual SAU#70 Technology Conference. This year, it was held here at RMS. When we entered the lobby, we were welcomed to a technology "lounge" that Mike Lepene and Amanda Yates had created. The "living room" feel of the space, decked out with comfy office chairs, plants, and even a Lego table, provided an immediate sense of fun and community. Before the opening keynote address, I spent some time playing at the Lego table and chatted with colleagues from other schools and I was struck by not only how many people I hadn't seen for a long time, but also by how much I enjoyed seeing them and learning about what was going on at other schools. Bringing all of us together to learn with, and from, one another was terrific.

This year, I presented a workshop with my colleague, Stephanie Davis, RMS Social Studies teacher. Stephanie and I created a workshop entitled "Using iTunes U to Implement UDL Principles". Our session introduced colleagues to the work that we have been doing to make curriculum accessible to all through the use of technology. We gave participants a "hands on" experience with iTunes U by creating, and then enrolling them in, an iTunes U course designed specifically for the workshop. Participants were able to explore iTunes U through the eyes of a student.
