HHS Transition

8th grade students have taken their placement tests, met the HHS guidance counselors and received course registration materials. I am currently sitting with each of my students to go over course choices and help them understand the way the HHS schedule works, what "X" periods are (and are not), and how to negotiate lunch (no lunch period). Students are both anxious and excited as they look to their transitions to HHS.

In early May, students will meet with their HHS case managers (learning specialists) here at RMS. These transition meetings are opportunities for students to meet with their learning specialist and to ask questions and to discuss their individual needs. Transition meetings also give the HHS learning specialists a chance learn a little about their incoming students.

Transition meetings will take place during the school day and parents are certainly welcome to attend if they are able. As soon as the HHS case managers are assigned, I'll be sending out meeting times to families.

Exciting times ahead!
